Hosu often responds to unusual, or perhaps symbolic, events in his life through sculpture, treating them as if they might carry meaning on the other side of reality, in the unconscious. When his dog happened to hunt a pheasant, he collected its feathers, beak, and claws and combined them with other found organic materials into a series of totems, placed among a series of cast pyramids.
TAKA Collectives, in turn, designed a series of digital objects called Matters, which translate computer code and symbols into images of strings. These strings extend beyond the screens as physical strings stretched across the gallery floor.
Where the two practices come into physical contact, the strings and objects form a kind of sacred geometry, a point where the three worlds might converge.
